Smart or stupid?

The other day I stumbled across a research project examining the decision making abilities of people with high IQs. The conclusion read as follows:

Smart people are more likely to overanalyse and less likely to take action.

According to neurology expert Dr Adam Perkins, people with higher IQ levels had greater activity in their cerebral cortex, which caused them to analyse situations more extensively and deliberate for longer on their decisions. Perkins’ research also found that the ‘smart’ people suffered from higher levels of mental stress, and were less likely to get what they wanted in life as a result of their overthinking.

I might be missing something… but that doesn’t sound so smart, does it?

Balance is key

how to live a balanced life

You can have all the intelligence in the world but it doesn’t mean a thing if you don’t balance it with action.

Your greatest ideas and your wildest visions are all useless if you don’t do anything with them. If being smart means endlessly overthinking whilst others are out there changing the world then you can call me stupid. I’d rather be a fool who gave it their best shot than a genius who never even tried.

There are no shortage of brilliant ideas in the universe. I’m willing to bet you’ve had your fair share in the past. But I’m also willing to bet that the only ideas that have ever made a meaningful difference to your life are the ones you have acted on.

That’s because ideas don’t change the world. People with the courage and conviction to act on them do. Check out this article on how to make your actions as big as your dreams and start living your vision!

Courage and Conviction

how to live a balanced and courage life

You can spend your whole life crippled by incessant overthinking and paralysed as you overanalyse. Or you can swallow your pride, acknowledge the risk, and then go for it with everything you've got.

Of course, you might fail. Of course, it might not work. But so what? If you fail, fail fast. Take the lesson and move on.

I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve failed in the past. But I wouldn’t trade those failures for the world. Every single one has been a necessary lesson which has helped me get to where I needed to be.

You’re never going to be 100% ready and it is never going to be 100% the right time.

The stars are not going to align. The perfect moment doesn’t exist. So the only moment you really have is right now. Seems like a pretty good time to get started, doesn’t it?
